SYNOPSIS
In the UK, there is a labour shortage in a number of industries, including manufacturing, construction,
and hospitality.
The new youth mobility partnership scheme, which offers up to 3,000 visas to young professionals from
India to live and work in the UK each year, has been given the go light by the Rishi Sunak government
despite a severe labour shortage in the country.
Sunak unveiled the programmed during the G20 Summit in Bali, where he also met Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, as part of the UK’s Indo-Pacific strategy. It was formally started in early 2023 after being
inked as a component of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership (MMP) last year.
I am personally aware of the immense value of our country’s long-standing cultural and historical links
with India “Sunak, the country’s first prime minister of Indian descent, stated.
I’m happy that more of India’s best young people will now have the chance to experience everything
that living in the UK has to offer – and vice versa – enhancing our economies and societies “said he.
An “important moment” for the bilateral relationship and the UK’s broader aim to developing greater
ties with the Indo-Pacific region is the inauguration of the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme. Here is
all the information you require on the new visa programmed.
