British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan invite PNP candidates in Latest PNP Draws.

This week, candidates from five Canadian provinces have been nominated to apply for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The PNP enables provinces and territories (excluding Quebec and Nunavut) to select economic immigration candidates who are best suited to integrate into the local workforce and contribute to the provincial economy.

Since its inception in 1998, the PNP has achieved significant success and has become the primary pathway for economic immigrants entering Canada as per the Immigration Levels Plan. By the end of 2025, Canada aims to admit 117,500 candidates annually through the PNP.

Provincial governments have the flexibility to conduct draws as frequently or infrequently as needed. The number of PNP candidates invited in each draw is not capped, provided that the province stays within its allocated invitation quota by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Here are the PNP immigration results from May 13 to 19 for selected provinces:

British Columbia:

On May 16, British Columbia held three draws and invited a total of 202 candidates. In a general draw, 162 candidates were invited from various streams without targeting any specific occupation. The minimum score requirements were 104 for Skilled Workers, 107 for International Graduates, and 85 for Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates.

The remaining two draws targeted 29 early childhood educators and 11 healthcare professionals with minimum scores of 60. The draws considered candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories, including Express Entry candidates.

Manitoba:

On May 18, Manitoba conducted a draw for three categories. Two separate draws invited Skilled Workers in Manitoba, with the first draw focusing on the occupation-specific code 7330 for Transport and Transit Drivers. It invited 287 candidates with a minimum score of 610. The second Skilled Worker draw, which wasn’t occupation-specific, invited 191 candidates with minimum scores of 701.

Additionally, 27 candidates were invited from the Skilled Workers Overseas category with a minimum score of 721, and 21 candidates were invited from the International Education stream.

The Government of Manitoba also announced a $4 million funding for 24 newcomer service provider organizations through the Newcomer Community Integration Support (NCIS) program.

Ontario:

Ontario held a draw on May 18 specifically for skilled trades candidates under the Express Entry Skilled Trades stream. The province invited 1694 candidates in skilled trades occupations with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores ranging from 250 to 482.

Eligible candidates in this stream require a minimum of one year of full-time work experience obtained within the last two years from the date of application submission to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The experience must be in one or more occupations identified in their Express Entry profile and acquired while maintaining legal status in Canada.

Prince Edward Island:

On May 18, Prince Edward Island (PEI) conducted its second draw of the month. PEI invited 155 candidates under its Labour and Express Entry stream, along with three candidates in the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur category. These candidates needed a minimum score of 65 to be considered.

PEI has recently moved away from the previous pattern of holding draws once a month and has increased the frequency of draws, with three draws in March and one in April.

Saskatchewan:

Saskatchewan also conducted its second draw of the month on May 18. The province invited 260 candidates under its Occupations In-Demand stream and 784 Express Entry candidates. Both categories required candidates to have a minimum score of 67.

Additionally, all candidates were required to have an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

How does Express Entry Program work? The applicant needs to carry out the three core steps –

The applicant should enter the Express Entry pool by creating a profile. A profile needs to have the educational credential assessment and Language score.

After you are in the Express Entry pool, wait for the express entry draw to announce the results. On meeting the CRS score requirement, you will receive an ITA from the IRCC.

After receiving the ITA, the applicant will have around 60 days to submit the complete application along with the documents.

The program has three sub-streams, and the applicant can apply through any of the sub-streams.

    • Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP)
    • Federal Skilled Traders Program (FSTP)
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

FSWP is for skilled workers who have never lived in Canada before, while FSTP is for tradespersons with experience in listed occupations, and CEC is for foreign workers with Canadian work experience.
