Ontario, British Columbia and Saskatchewan invite candidates for nomination in latest draws

This week, Ontario, British Columbia (B.C.), and Saskatchewan issued provincial immigration invitations to qualified individuals.

11 of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories, with the exception of Nunavut and Quebec, use Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), which allow local governments in each participating region to select skilled immigrants who they believe are best suited to address local labour market needs and mitigate regional demographic challenges.

Note: Although immigration is a shared responsibility of Canada’s federal and provincial/territorial governments, Quebec does not have a PNP. This is due to an agreement between that province’s municipal government and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which permits Quebec to retain more control over provincial economic immigration.

Provincial immigration results from June 8 to June 14

Ontario

Ontario’s Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has sent out invitations for the first time in over two months. These invites were distributed in two different drawings on June 11, 2024.

In the first draw, the OINP issued 124 invitations to individuals who may qualify as early childhood educators and helpers (National Occupation Classification (NOC) 42202). This draw invited applicants with a score of 43 or above.

In another draw on June 11, the OINP sent 120 invitations to candidates in a targeted draw via its Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. This draw was also open to individuals interested in becoming early childhood educators and assistants, although a minimum score of 65 was necessary.

British Columbia

On June 11, British Columbia held another British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) general draw.

In this draw, B.C. extended 39 invitations to immigration hopefuls from five BCPNP streams. As has been the case throughout 2024, the following streams were targeted through this draw:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Skilled Worker – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option
  • International Graduate
  • International Graduate – EEBC option
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled

Note: Candidates for all streams except “Entry Level and Semi-Skilled” had to score at least 131 in the June 11 draw. In contrast, entry-level and semi-skilled candidates need a minimum score of 110.

In addition, on June 11, B.C. held a targeted draw that resulted in 27 invitations to candidates across three occupational categories.

  • Six invitations were issued to childcare candidates with a minimum score of 93
  • Nine invitations were issued to construction candidates with a minimum score of 93
  • 12 invitations were issued to healthcare candidates with a minimum score of 102

Saskatchewan

On June 13, 2024, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held provincial immigration drawings for the first time since March 2024.

Saskatchewan held the first of two drawings under the SINP’s Express Entry stream, inviting 88 individuals with professional work experience in specific occupations. Candidates invited for this stream on June 13 needed to have a minimum score of 88.

The other SINP draw on June 13 invited an additional 32 candidates through the program’s Occupations In-Demand stream. Once again, this attracts qualified people with specialized professional work experience. These contenders likewise needed a minimum score of 88.
