Canadians, whether born here or immigrated here, frequently have a desire to make as much money as possible since it will allow them and their family to live comfortably in this country.
Recognizing that pursuing these vocations necessitates specific skills and knowledge, prominent employment website and job posting platform Indeed recently (September 16, 2023) published their list of some of Canada’s highest paying jobs.
It is important to note that “salary figures [in this list] reflect data listed on Indeed Salaries at [the] time of writing [but] salaries may vary depending on the hiring organization, … a candidate’s experience/academic background and location”

Understanding the Job Market in Canada
In light of the above, it is worth noting that 12 of the 15 jobs on Indeed’s list, with the exception of the Corporate Controller, Chief Marketing Officer, and Vice President, fall within two broad employment sectors: healthcare and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
This is crucial because it represents a huge potential opportunity for eligible prospective immigrants to Canada, as indicated by Canada’s earlier this year introduction of category-based draws for Express Entry.
Note: A “round of invitations” is another term for a draw.
On June 28, 2023, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) initiated a new type of Express Entry lottery known as a category-based draw. These draws, in conjunction with ordinary Express Entry drawings, are intended to attract more skilled individuals to Canada who may help solve labour market shortfalls and issues in specific industries of need.
For 2023, IRCC is using category-based draws to prioritize Express Entry candidates with:
· French-language proficiency
· Healthcare industry work experience
· Work experience in STEM professions
· Trades industry work experience
· Transport industry work experience
· Work experience in Agriculture and Agri-Food occupations
Please keep in mind that each of the five occupational categories listed above has specific job titles that are eligible for category-based draws. This page lists all of the jobs available in each occupational category in 2023.
So far, the history of category-based draws in healthcare and STEM
At the time of writing, IRCC had held two category-based draws: one for people with experience in Healthcare occupations and another for qualified candidates in the STEM area.
